On June 22, 1992 I fell in love with miniature schnauzers. That was the day I brought home a ten week old puppy who we would later name Zak. I am still in love with this fabulous breed and I can't imagine life without them. On Zak's sixth birthday (April 11, 1998) we brought home a little ten week old Zoe. Life was good until March 17, 2000. On that day, my Zak, my most precious mommy's boy was diagnosed with chronic renal failure. For the next month we fought valiantly, but on April 19 we lost the battle and had to help Zak to the Rainbow Bridge. To say we were (still are) devasted would be an understatement. However, on Mother's Day, May 14, 2000, Nick was born. After many trips back and forth to the breeder, Nick came home on July 28th. I've created a separate page for each dog to reflect their very different personalities and characters.
About ten years ago, I became involved in the rescue of abandoned and unwanted miniature schnauzers. Currently, I volunteer with the Miniature Schnauzer Rescue Service of New England. Visit my links page for links to the websites of this and other very busy mini rescue groups.

FINDING A REPUTABLE BREEDER
So, you've decided you want to purchase a miniature schnauzer puppy!
What should you do next?
First and foremost, you should follow the link below and read the article witten by Nadine Tare, a well respected long-time breeder of miniature schnauzers and one of the founders of New Jersey Schnauzer Rescue Network.
We also attended the 1st Annual New England Schnauzer Picnic on September 8, 2001. Check it out!
Thank you to Lori Bush for creating and sharing this beautiful drawing with the schnauzer community. I send my thoughts and prayers to the victims and families of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Unfortunately Lori passed away in October 2005 leaving a huge loss in the schnauzer community. To view her website, click on the drawing.
