This was alot of work! Here is a shot of the pathway looking towards the backyard. At this point, I hadn't graded the area yet with the soil left over from the "BIG DIG" |
Before planting could begin, I needed to install the hardscapes. For a path, I chose granite cobblestone. I set aside a day and had the stones delivered. The closest they could get was my front yard so I then had to move more than a ton of granite by wheelbarrow to the garden site. It took me an afternnon to get the stones moved and set, but it was well worth the effort. My husband then took sand and swept it between all the cracks to tighten up the joints. My neighbors are oohing and aahing over my path-it came out so good, I may do the front walkway in the same style. |

The fountain is in place and working. For almost a year I looked for the right fountain. I wanted one fairly good size and viewable from the back to we could enjoy it from the screen porch. As it turned out, this fountain was the first one I saw last summer, but at the time I wanted to look around so I passed on it. For the next six months, I looked everywhere and never saw anything I liked as much as this, and with the 25% off coupon I had from the garden center, it turned out to be a great deal. Now my neighbors want one just like it and can't find anything-good thing it weighs a few hundred pounds. LOL! |
Here is a picture of the garden stone. When I ordered it, I didn't expect to get it for weeks. It arrived on April 19, 2001, the first anniversary of Zak's death. The lettering wore off almost immediately but I thought it detracted from the stone. |
Here is the stone in place... |
